Hi, my name is Kailley, and I am the creative vision behind Kailley’s Kitchen (and in case you were wondering, the adorable tee I’m wearing is from Tiny Buffalo— I know, I’m obsessed, too)!
I am A twenty-something girl living in the vibrant, wild, and always chaotic Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago. A writer by both training and creative nature. A freelance food writer and photographer covering Chicago’s bar and restaurant scene (see my portfolio here). An insatiable appetite for all that is beautiful, delicious, and aromatic. A devout user of the Oxford comma. A pair of eyeballs too big for their respective stomach. An Illinois Wesleyan University graduate. An obsessively pearly-white sweet tooth possessor. A voracious reader. Champagne taste on a beer budget thanks to the waxing and waning of life as a graduate student. An opinion on just about every topic fathomable. A loving daughter, granddaughter, sister, and girlfriend. An ever-expanding vocabulary. Strongly opposed to bathroom mirror selfies, duck lips, and Instagram filters. A kitchen mess-maker and an obsessive compulsive cleaner-upper. A fad diet non-believer. A former vegetarian who finally saw the light (read: bacon). An unapologetic nerd. Well-versed (but a bit rusty) in Latin. A cupcake liner hoarder. Not a domestic goddess, despite my best efforts. An all-girls boarding school survivor. A little bit country, a little bit rock ‘n’ roll. A McDonald’s loyalist. A manifestation of dominant Sicilian genes. A proponent for the preservation of the 2nd Amendment. Inspired. In love. A work in progress.
I love Family and friends. Sprinkles on ice cream and cupcakes and cookies. Food porn. Writers who write well. Passionate eaters who subscribe to the notion that moderation is key. Breaking Bad. Big, fat, juicy cheeseburgers. Hyphenated adjectives. Southern Comfort, Diet Coke, and lime. White orchids. Just about any authentic motorized vehicle sporting the iconic Prancing Horse emblem. The colors Tiffany blue and rosso corsa, but not necessarily together. An amalgam of shabby chic, Victorian, and MacKenzie Childs style. 1990s throwback snacks like DunkAroos and Koala Yummies. Sunday nights on the Food Network. Pushing myself outside my comfort zone. Wreck-It-Ralph. This YouTube video of a slow loris eating a ball of rice. Baking with full-fat, full-sugar ingredients. Driving too fast on back country roads. The hovercraft option on Diddy Kong Racing for Nintendo 64. Licking my fingers after eating Cheetos. Heavy metal music. Devouring Chicago-style hotdogs at ball games. The przewalski’s horses at the Brookfield Zoo. Every stand-up album ever released by Jim Gaffigan. People who don’t abuse the word “literally.” Most of Shakespeare’s comedies, but Twelfth Night is my favorite.
For the whole story (and pictures of my kitchen!), let me guide you back to the very first post ever created at Kailley’s Kitchen: A Fresh Start

Finally, I want to dispel the notion that, as a food blogger, I don’t have epic kitchen failures… because I DO. We all have learning moments; for some, those moments come in the form of a newly discovered incinerated cookie flecked with glowing embers melting to the base of an oven.
